QA-25, 20 March 2018, Statement of the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hami Aksoy, In Response to a Question Regarding the Statement of the President of the International Red Cross Committee (ICRC) that was published in various international press agencies

Republic Of Türkiye Ministry Of Foreign Affairs 20.03.2018

The statement of the President of the International Red Cross Committee (ICRC), published in various international press agencies claiming that "the credibility of a Turkish Red Crescent working with the Kurdish population is close to zero" is far from truth and unacceptable.

The ICRC should be among those who know best about the humanitarian aid operations of the Turkish Red Crescent, which are carried out resolutely on a global scale, without any distinction of language, religion, nationality and geography.

The unprecedented sacrifice and determination of the Turkish Red Crescent in carrying out its activities since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, has been presented as exemplary by the United Nations and the international community.

We deplore this statement by the President of the ICRC that is directed at the Red Crescent of a country that is home to hundreds of thousands of Syrian Kurds within its borders.
