No: 91, 25 March 2017, Press Release Regarding the Demonstration held today (25 March) in the capital of Switzerland, Bern

Republic Of Türkiye Ministry Of Foreign Affairs 25.03.2017

A banner that overtly called for the assassination of our President was observed at the demonstration held today (March 25) in the capital of Switzerland, Bern by members of the terrorist organization PKK and its supporters in Switzerland.

The fact that this demonstration which was an explicit incitement to violence and terrorism had been allowed was protested and our expectation that the necessary judicial measures be taken against this criminal act has been conveyed to the Swiss side in Ankara by summoning the Swiss Charge d'Affaires a.i to the Ministry and through demarches executed by our Embassy in Bern.

Our Ministry will follow very closely the administrative and judicial steps that the Swiss federal and local authorities will be taking regarding this obvious crime and our demarches on this issue will continue.

It is also telling that the demonstrators were given the opportunity to make propaganda regarding the referandum in our country during this unacceptable event which constituted a clear support to terrorism and terrorists.

H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey also called the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, conveying our reaction regarding this ugly incident.
