Press Release Regarding the Brussels Conference on Afghanistan

H.E. Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey will attend the Brussels Conference on Afghanistan which will be co-hosted by European Union and Afghanistan in Brussels on 4-5 October 2016.

Turkey, as a close partner of Afghanistan with deep historical, political and economic ties, has participated to these Conference Series on reconstruction of Afghanistan since its commencement in 2002.

These Conferences affirm the international community’s commitment to supporting Afghanistan’s development, and provides a forum where financial support for Afghanistan’s development is discussed.

In addition to bilateral assistance, Turkey is also taking part in the efforts of the international community to support Afghanistan’s reconstruction while Afghanistan is going through this transformation period. H.E. Çavuşoğlu will announce Turkey’s development assistance pledge for the period of 2018-2020 during the Brussels Conference.

Turkey, as it has always been, will continue to be a leading country in helping brotherly and friendly people of Afghanistan.
