Press Release Regarding the Bomb Attacks in Iraq

We have learned with great sorrow that at least fifty people lost their lives in the bomb attacks perpetrated in Baghdad last weekend, that another bomb attack was carried out against the provincial headquarters of the Iraqi Turkmen Front (ITF) in the Diyala Governorate, that at least eighteen people lost their lives in the repeated bomb attacks committed against the headquarters of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and that many Iraqi citizens were injured as a result of these attacks.

We strongly condemn these terrorist acts. We wish God's mercy upon those who lost their lives in these attacks, patience and fortitude to their families and hope for a speedy recovery to the injured.

Moreover, we are concerned over the recent attacks of terrorist groups clashing with Government forces in Mosul and Anbar provinces and the worsening of the security situation stemming from these developments. We hope that peace and stability will be established in Iraq as soon as possible. Turkey will continue to stand by its neighbor Iraq in its fight against terrorism.
